Last Tuesday, the Rotary Club of Edina Morningside welcomed a visitor from Rotary Club Kyiv Multinational.   Mark Erjavec joined our meeting and posed for a photo opportunity with our own President Tom Gump.

Here is a little more about Mark's Club.  In the fall of 2005 Rotarian Roman Shwed brought together a group of individuals to initiate the start an English speaking Rotary Club in Ukraine's capital, Kyiv. After many meetings in different locations and at different times, as well as with a great deal of hard work and effort the group completed all of its paper work and sponsorship of support from other Rotary Clubs both in Ukraine as well as in Holland. When all this preliminary work had been completed, it was clear that Kyiv would have an English speaking Rotary Club.

On June 12, 2006 Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club received its charter from the President of Rotary International, Carl Whilhem Stenhammer in a ceremony at the President Hotel in Kyiv.

Unlike the other 39 already existent Rotary Clubs in Ukraine, KMRC was the first English speaking Rotary Club in Ukraine. Another aspect which differentiates us from other Rotary Clubs in this country is the composition and the origin of its members. While most Ukrainian Rotary Clubs are composed of Ukrainian nationals, KMRC started out with members from Canada, the Netherlands and the United States of America. Since it's inception KMRC has added members from across the World: Australia, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and more.
