RITW @ St. Peter's: Youth Impact Racing

Meeting at St. Peter's, 5421 France Ave S, Edina, MN

Youth Impact Racing is 100% committed to the next generation by teaching young people the value of responsibility, friendship, and teamwork.  In 2016, the Rotary Club of Edina/Morningside provided a local grant to fund a remote control “Rotary” Car for the youth of our community.  Come see (and drive the car) at this meeting.

Our speaker, Adam Brachle, has had a love of all things related to motor sports since childhood. Growing up as the son of an airline pilot, he learned to fly airplanes at the early age of 5 and became a licensed pilot at age 18. His father (who is also a trained mechanic) taught Adam more than just the basics when it comes to auto maintenance, but instilled in him enough knowledge to allow Adam to become a fleet mechanic later in life.

Adam has a degree in Pastoral Leadership from Crown College in Victoria, MN. In 2008, Adam began to feel stirrings to start a ministry to teach students skills that would be beneficial in life. After several years of research, strategic thinking, prayer and counsel, Youth Impact Racing was born in the fall of 2013. Click here for a video of Adam’s vision for and the birth of YIR.

In 2015, a partnership began with St. Peter’s - Edina (Mark Shockey) to impact community youth beginning at 8 yrs old using something that gets their attention: remote control cars!  RC racing is held in the gym every Tuesday night through the school year. 15 adults serve as mentors / instructors. (A little trivia: our club president’s son, Andrew, was the YIR RC racing champion of the 2015-2016 season!)
