OUR NEXT MEETING
Our Next Meeting will be Tuesday, July 9 2024, at 7:30am, Edina Country Club.

Our speaker will be Al Krysan, Amplify Mission Network.
Joe Kirk will provide the speaker introduction.

AMPLIFY MISSION NETWORK is a community of Christians volunteering their skills to help ministries make a greater impact. We meet 6 times a year to hear presentations from ministries who can benefit from our time, talents, and networks. At these events, we also hear from other Christians whose lives have been transformed by working with ministries. Finally, we bring together friends and colleagues who are looking to get more involved in the work God is doing through the ministries. All events are free and you will not be asked for donations to the individual ministries presenting.

SINGAPORE
Our president and his wife, Alison Kane, participated in the Rotary International Convention located in Singapore this past May. This convention displayed the magnitude and power that the Magic of Rotary embodies worldwide. Learning from and connecting with Rotarians who span the globe ignited a spark to do more and raise our goals in our community and globally.

Happy 4th of July! I look forward to working together to create the Magic of Rotary!

GOLF 2024: RECAP FROM JIM BIZAL

WHAT A GREAT DAY!  Thanks to all of you for joining me at Braemar today.  It looked like everyone had a great time and we raised money for our outreach grants.
First, let me give you all of the winners for the day.

Winning foursome with a score of 17 under par: Jim Hovland, Dan Rasmus, Joe Arends, & Jon Barnett  Great score!
Closest to the Pin Women: Abby Schauerman
Closest to the Pin Men: Rob Laughlin
Longest Drive Women: Kelly Kirk
Longest Drive Men: Skip Nelson
Longest Putt Women: Peggy Bell
Longest Putt Men: Paul Nelson
Raffle winner for the Beverage Fridge: Joe Kirk
I would like to get feedback from everyone about the format. Did you like the breakfast before or would you rather eat lunch afterwards with an awards program? We can do either for about the same cost but not both.
Everyone please send this out to your foursomes and give me feedback about the meal and any other things. I thought the staff at Braemar did a great job and the course looked fabulous.
Thanks to all of the people that helped with our service project as well.
And lastly, we would not have a successful tournament without the support of the sponsors. I can't thank you enough for your support.
Thanks again and see you on the course next year,

INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS
Paul Nelson's Timely Reminders About Road Closures

50th & Grange Project
The 50th Street and Grange Road Street Reconstruction Project started this week. As is typical, the first few days of a road closure and detour are messy. The contractor added additional signs to reduce confusion and better communicate the detours. Recall this project is scheduled for the entire summer. It includes water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer system improvements along with many pedestrian safety features. These include new wide sidewalks, ADA ramps and ADA push buttons at the new traffic signal. During most of the project the northbound off-ramp and the northbound on-ramp to Highway 100 from Grange Road will be open. Work is occurring in front of those so there will be times the ramps will need to be closed for contractor safety.

Culvert Replacement Project
During the week of June 17, a contractor will be replacing two metal culverts under Interlachen Boulevard near the Interlachen County Club. The pipes are failing and could potentially cause flooding to upstream properties. Interlachen Boulevard will be closed to traffic. The contractor is scheduling the work over the entire week but hopefully operations will go quickly. These pipes both drain into a pond so that makes the replacement more challenging. The contractor must hold the water back with a small temporary dam in order to complete the work. The signed detour will be Vernon Avenue to Blake Road.
ROTARY AND DEI
Rotary strives for the fair treatment and advancement of all Rotary participants. Embracing equity means carefully considering how to provide differing levels of support, opportunities, and resources so participants have a welcoming and productive experience.

When we embrace equity, we create an environment built on respect and dignity for all participants.

Watch for more to come in the coming weeks on this topic!
