OUR NEXT MEETING

TUESDAY, August 4th 7:30 a.m. at Edina Country Club.

Sarah Groskreutz, Warrior Dog Rescue

By day, Sarah Groskreutz is an an Attorney who manages a Claims Department at a local insurance company. By night, she wrangles twin teenagers and the chaos that ensues. With several pets in her household, she cannot imagine life without them- her at cat, Louie, was adopted just before the pandemic and is lovingly referred to as my ‘therapy cat’ because he waits patiently for me every night and keeps my lap (and bed) warm.

Sarah started volunteering at The Dog House with my family in 2021, looking looking for a way to give back, while also spending time together. After a few months, she planned an event and the rest is history…. Sarah now assists with planning and coordination of the weekly adoption events and the fundraisers (from small classes to flower deliveries, to the large annual events.) The planning and organizing may be her superpower and she is happy to help. Sarah loves making connections within the community, working with the diverse group of volunteers, getting to know the fosters, and seeing the happy families meet their new pets. The puppy kisses and wiggle butts are the icing on the cake!

TUESDAY, August 11th 7:30 a.m. at Edina Country Club.

Mark Ostrom, The Joy Collaborative

Mark Ostrom shares his personal journey and the inspiration behind his nonprofit, which creates life-enriching spaces for kids and youth with life-limiting conditions. From his early vision in college to his impactful role in designing the Rainforest Cafe, Mark’s story reveals how Joy Collaborative came to life.

NEW MEMBER PROSPECT PATRICK GAGE

Patrick is a hockey coach and is a fourth-generation Edina resident. His family moved to the Sunnyslope neighborhood in 1952. He grew up playing hockey on rinks like Braemar. Patrick coaches Squirts and Pewees (4th-7th graders), sand says he learns more from his players than they learn from him.

When he's not coaching, Patrick runs Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon’s re-election campaign. He is a pragmatic leader and looks forward to building collaborative relationships within Rotary.

Patrick graduted with a degree from Georgetown, and then worked at two nonprofits, raising money for refugees and Holocaust education.

Patrick lives in the Interlachen Park neighborhood and serves on the boards of the Edina Historical Society and the Edina 4th of July Committee.

Patrick's sponsor is Mary Brindle.
