Metropolitan Area Transportation Issues

Scott McBride joined the Minnesota Department of Transportation in 1985, working in Design, Preliminary Design and Planning.  After ten years there, he left the public sector and worked for consulting engineering firms, managing transportation projects in Minnesota, South Dakota and North Dakota.

In September of 2008, after nearly thirteen years absence, Scott returned to MnDOT as the Metro District Engineer, where he is responsible for leading over 1200 employees responsible for operating and maintaining the Metro area state highway system, with an average annual construction program of $400 Million.

This presentation will focus on the state of the metropolitan highway system and the current conversation about transportation funding. Mr. McBride will talk about the current and future condition of our roads and bridges, and the ability of the Minnesota Department of Transportation to keep up with the regional demand for transportation. He will talk about upcoming projects in the Metro area and the long-range plan for transportation.

Mr. McBride will also provide a discussion of transportation funding proposals, which will be timely, considering the legislature will be focusing on the topic at this time.
