JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
 
Position Overview

The Executive Director leads the Edina Community Foundation in achieving its mission of making the community a better place to live and work. The Executive Director strives to achieve this mission by engaging the community, encouraging volunteerism, and promoting philanthropy through a strategic plan formulated by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director reports to the Foundation’s Board of Directors. The Executive Director is charged with  carrying out the strategic plan of the Foundation and providing Board support. Responsibilities primarily include day-to-day operational, financial, development and fundraising and development activities as well as expanding the  visibility and viability of the Foundation. The Executive Director leads and manages the Foundation’s organizational planning, donor development (individual and corporate), fundraising (events), Community Impact Funds  administration, brand expansion, marketing, and community investment. S/he partners with City or Edina and other nonprofits serving Edina to drive positive community change.

Relationship to the Foundation’s Board of Directors
  1. Works closely with the Foundation’s President to formulate and execute the board agenda.
  2. Brings information and actionable items to the attention of the President/Board.
  3. Meet with and provides support to Board committees.
  4. Arranges and attends a portion of all Board meetings.
  5. Coordinates the recording of minutes of all proceedings.
  6. Provides fiscal oversight, including budget management, bookkeeping, accounting, and gift acknowledgement. Meets with Treasurer regularly to review books.
  7. Provides other reports, records and research needed to conduct Foundation business.
Donor and Sponsor Development and Relations
  1. Nurtures and strengthens existing donor and sponsor relations.
  2. Develops strategy to secure new individual donors and corporate sponsors,
  3. Identifies and meets with prospective donors and sponsors to develop relationships with the Foundation.
  4. Meets with area attorneys, bank officers, accountants, tax and investment counselors, life insurance executives and others involved in estate planning.
